Jumpstart Into Nutrition
Wake up, go to work, eat something, then back to bed. This seems to be the routine as the days roll by in this 2021 year. With many of us stuck at home, we find ourselves mentally and physically stuck about nutrition. So why not make a change? We have a couple of ideas on how to shake up your routine towards health, wellness and ultimately happiness.

1. Make Realistic Expectations

When you first dive into your health and wellness journey, it can become quite overwhelming. The expectations to succeed through unrealistic goals can put on a lot of pressure. Especially now, with diet culture becoming more mainstream, you are expected to have strict regiments in order to see results. But that’s just not true. “You are allowed to treat yourself and still reach what you want to achieve.” says resident Essence of L nutritionist Teagan. “There’s a fine line between unrealistic expectations and balance. It’s important to not completely deprive yourself and still obtain your health and wellness goals.”

2. Be Perfectly Imperfect

Finding enjoyment is something we all search for in our life and when it comes to making a change, that sense of happiness needs to be at the forefront. It is important to have grace with yourself and understand that you don’t have to be perfect. “One thing I always reiterate to my clients is that you don’t have to be perfect. If you only focus on the negative, you are not going to get to where you want to be.”


3. Take it One Day at a Time

Take baby steps when you start diving into your health because all the underlying issues and why those are happening are all interconnected. “When you start to set up goals for yourself, take it one step at a time.” Recognize, that every day that you try, you are getting closer and closer to your health and wellness goals.


4. Remember Your Individuality

Everybody is different and as such, there is no one response that everyone can follow. It is important to remember that fact because when you jumpstart your health and wellness journey, it is easy to compare yourself to others. Instead, embrace your individuality and work to find what is best for yourself to be successful. “It is important to listen to what my client needs and then work together to get a positive response.”


5. Make this Investment for Yourself

“I think it is important for people to remember that if you do want to see change, it will take time and effort and it will take you investing in yourself.” Making your health and wellness a priority is a worthwhile journey as you see the positive impacts it not only has on you but the people around you. When you are feeling your best, it will be reflected in your career, in your relationships and in your emotions. “Investing in your health is investing in your life.” If you’re not willing to make investments in yourself, you’re not going to see change.


Even the smallest change can have the most profound impact. “The energy that you put out into the universe is going to come back to you.” Our current culture keeps us on the go. We have become constantly tired, extremely overworked, relentlessly sleep deprived, and completely run down. So why not make a change?

It is time for us to focus on ourselves and the steps that we take to make our lives ultimately better. Become your best self so when you wake up in the morning, you feel rested. When you go to work, you are energized and engaged. When you go to bed, you are at peace. All these tips are just some of the ways to instill meaningful change in your life, to help you prosper and obtain the life you want in health and wellness.
